On the night of Saturday, August 23, the pilot of a MiG-29 fighter jet Sergei Bondar died, the AFU Air Force reported.

"On the night of August 23, 2025, after performing a combat mission during a landing approach, the pilot of a MiG-29 fighter jet, Major Sergei Bondar, born in 1979, died," the report said.

The agency added that the causes and circumstances of the crash are being established.
