The Rostov regional court sentenced to life imprisonment Ruslan Shingirey, a participant in the war against Ukraine who raped and killed an eight-year-old girl. As Astra notes, the state media, covering the case, avoided mentioning the status of the criminal as a participant in the so-called "special military operation."

According to the investigation materials, the tragedy occurred in May 2024 in the village of Olginskaya in the Aksai district. Shingirey noticed a strange girl returning home from the store, forcibly put her in his car and drove her to a forest clearing. There he placed a plastic bag over the child's head, committed rape, and then strangled the victim.

In 2022, Shingirey participated in a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but later broke his contract and returned home. The exact reasons for his departure from the service are unknown.
