Chancellor Mertz Showed Up In The Oval Office Wearing A Special Tie

The head of the German government chose to accessorize with elephants.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz consciously chose an elephant tie (the elephant is the symbol of the U.S. Republican Party) for his meeting with U.S. leader Donald Trump at the White House on August 18. This was stated by Steffen Meier, a spokesman for the German government.

"I have heard that this tie was chosen quite deliberately. Beyond that, however, I am not aware of any more detailed design or style preferences," he emphasized.

Before that, a photo appeared online showing Merz wearing a blue tie with white elephants to a meeting on Ukraine.
