The Drone That Fell In Poland Flew Through Belarus' Narowlya?

He was heard by the locals.

The drone that fell in eastern Poland on August 20 most likely came from the direction of Belarus, Lublin Voivodeship Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz said on the morning of August 21. He added that he could not yet specify the model of the drone. What is known so far is that in the village of Osiny in Lukow district, burned metal and plastic debris was found at the crash site, while the blast wave shattered windows in several houses.

The photo of the fallen drone's engine was published by the Monitor Konfliktów resource with the comment that it could have been a Russian "Geranium" attack drone of the Shahed-136 type.

That night, Ukrainian monitoring channels told only about one alleged incursion of the Russian UAV into Belarus - it was probably a new jet drone that flew into the Gomel region and soon flew back into the territory of Ukraine.

Otherwise, the source "Flagstaff" reported that the residents of Narovli heard a drone with a characteristic sound of "Shahed" flying over the town around 22:00. The fate of the UAV remained unknown. There is a possibility that it flew to Poland and exploded there, falling in a cornfield.

The incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. local time (3:00 a.m. Belarusian time). In five hours, the Shahed, Geranium (or Gerbera, according to one version), which reaches a speed of about 150 kilometers per hour, could fly the distance from Narovli to the Polish village of Osiny. In a straight line it is 512 kilometers, but the Russians usually launch UAVs not in a straight line.

As in many previously known cases, the drone could have entered the airspace of Belarus in the Gomel region, fly along the border with Ukraine through the Brest region and end up in Poland.

It is noteworthy that in the photo of a standard four-stroke engine, which the Russian Federation massively uses in drones like Shahed, experts noticed a muffler on the exhaust system. Assuming that this is the same drone heard in Narovla, it means that it was either flying at a very low altitude - thanks to which the sound was heard by local residents - or the jamming system was not working effectively.

Polish law enforcement officers and about 150 representatives of other services, including the military, continue to work at the scene of the incident on August 21. One theory being considered by investigators is that the drone collided with nearby power lines. The prosecutor's office has cordoned off three power lines that show "signs of fresh damage." One of the plots of land at the epicenter of the explosion is now being examined for explosives.
