Interestingly, the map had certain inaccuracies.

With the help of a map of Ukraine in the White House managed to reveal to US President Donald Trump the situation on the battlefield, it was prepared by the American side. Interestingly, the map had certain inaccuracies.

The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said this, reports RBC-Ukraine.

"We had a map showing the situation on the battlefield with information about the percentage of territory that was occupied after 2014 and after 2022. When we arrived, they already had their own map," Zelensky noted.

The President of Ukraine emphasized that he would like to demonstrate to US President Donald Trump what is now happening on the battlefield.

"For this purpose, I do not need our map, I can on your map, because I understand perfectly well what the situation is: where we are, about the presence in Donbass, in general in the east, why they can not get this or that territory and so on. These were my long explanations, but it was an absolutely normal dialog," the head of state added.

He also added that there were certain errors on the map regarding the Donetsk region. Somewhere it was written that 73% of the region was occupied, and I noted that not 73%, but 67% or 69%, in Sumy region only 1% of the territory was occupied.

The importance of the Donbass

"President Trump was interested to hear the details, we talked a lot about the Donbass, about the east, what is its importance. I noted that if our military withdraws from this territory and it is occupied, we will then open the way to Kharkiv," Zelensky added.

The Ukrainian president also showed the American leader the roads to the Dnieper, Ukraine's industrial center.

"If we talk about withdrawal from the east, we cannot do it. It's not just a question of the constitution, it's a question of the country's survival and the strongest defensive borders, the distance to industrial centers. If (Russian dictator Vladimir - ed.) Putin gets that, he will try to move on. Did President Trump agree? He understood," the Ukrainian president emphasized.

Zelensky also noted that in the oval office they talked a lot about Crimea, particularly on the map.

"I noted that this is the biggest problem. He said, by the way, the fact that Ukraine pulled out was a big mistake, in his opinion. He noted that Crimea is the key to a full-scale war," the head of state added.

In Trump's opinion, if US President Barack Obama had not given Putin the opportunity to occupy Crimea and part of Donbass, he would not have started a full-scale war.

"I said that Putin militarized Crimea, prepared it for the southern operation as a bridgehead. The problem was that when Crimea was occupied by the Russians, no one imposed strong sanctions against the Russian Federation that had any real impact. That is why real pressure and real security guarantees are very important," Zelensky emphasized.
