In temporarily occupied Crimea near Yevpatoria, a rare Russian-made Kasta-2E2 radar station was destroyed in early August.
This was reported by Telegram "Crimean Wind".
"An attack on a former air defense position near the village of Khutor near Yevpatoria (Saksky district) took place between August 6 and 11. As a result of the attack, the expensive Kasta-2E2 radar was probably hit by drones. This is indicated by a number of factors," Crimean Wind's sources noted.
It is reported that this station stood at this position until the strike, after which a fire was recorded, and a net-covered object of identical size and appearance as the said radar station. Also, according to the sources, the station stopped fixing after the attack.
What is known about the Kasta-2E2 radar
The Kasta 2E2 radar is reportedly used in the divisional link of ground forces air defense - at the control points of division air defense chiefs and at the controls of Tor anti-aircraft missile regiments. Its main task is timely detection of airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, as well as drones.
