A possible meeting place between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has become known to European diplomats. The summit could take place in the coming weeks.

On Monday late afternoon, US President Donald Trump said he had a phone conversation with Putin and began organizing a meeting between him and Zelensky.

After that, the US leader said, a trilateral summit should take place.

A source in the European delegation told the publication that it was Putin who suggested this sequence of talks.

Although the Kremlin has not publicly confirmed the arrangements, a senior U.S. administration official said the meeting between Zelensky and Putin could take place in Hungary.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said talks between the two presidents were planned within the next two weeks.
