Britain's prime minister said there was real progress at the summit.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer commented on the meeting between Ukrainian and US Presidents Vladimir Zelenskyy and Donald Trump in Washington with European leaders and said "real progress" was made at the summit.
As The Guardian, speaking after the event, Starmer described the talks as "good and constructive," adding that "there was a palpable sense of unity between the European leaders who attended the summit, President Trump and President Zelenskyy."
The British prime minister highlighted "two significant outcomes" of the talks.
First, the coalition of the willing "will now work with the US" on security guarantees, he noted.
"This is really important for the security of Ukraine, for the security of Europe and for the security of the UK," Starmer emphasized.
The second important result, he called the agreement to hold a meeting between Zelensky and Putin, which will be attended by Trump.
"It's a recognition of the principle that on some of these issues, whether it's territory or prisoner exchange or the very serious issue of the return of children, Ukraine needs to be at the table. Those were the two most important results of today. They are positive results, there was a real sense of unity. Today we have made real progress," he emphasized.
