A White House official attributed Trump's desire to do so to the fact that "things are going well."
U.S. President Donald Trump said he plans to invite European leaders to the Oval Office before they leave the White House, CNN reported on Monday, August 18.
It is unclear whether the meeting will be private or open to the press.
CNN emphasizes that this is an additional meeting that is an addition to the schedule. A White House official explained to the channel such a desire of Trump that "everything is going well."
Officially, Trump met with European leaders and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in the East Room of the White House, and with Zelensky personally in the Oval Office.
The visit to the Oval Office by the "dream team," as the group of European leaders who came to support the Ukrainian president was called, was not part of the summit program.
On August 18, the leaders of France (Emmanuel Macron), Germany (Friedrich Merz), Italy (Giorgia Meloni), Britain (Keir Starmer), Finland (Alexander Stubb), European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte were among the European leaders in talks with Donald Trump at the White House.
CNN previously wrote that the atmosphere in the Oval Office of the White House on August 18 during Zelensky's meeting with Trump was friendlier than in February 2025 - during their previous meeting.
Zelensky called the conversation with Trump on August 18 "the best ever." The two sides discussed security guarantees and the humanitarian track.
