Echelons Of Russian Equipment Have Arrived In Belarus

To participate in joint exercises.

The first echelons of Russian equipment have arrived in Belarus to participate in joint exercises. Colonel Andrii Demchenko, speaker of the State Border Service of Ukraine, said this on the air of the telethon "Єдині новини", New Voice reports.

He specified that no changes or active actions from the Belarusian side have been recorded on the Ukrainian border with Belarus.

At the same time, units of the Defense Ministry's GSD and the State Border Service of Ukraine are closely monitoring the amount of forces and equipment Russia can transfer to Belarus, as it directly affects the level of threat to Ukraine, especially during the active phase of the joint exercise, Demchenko noted.

The active phase of the exercise, which will include command and staff and logistics training, will take place from September 12 to 16. According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, armored vehicles will be involved during these days, but their number will remain small.

"Now the preparatory stage is underway, and the first echelons have already arrived on the territory of Belarus. I should note that this is a small number of Russian means and personnel that have been transferred to the territory of Belarus," Demchenko said.

He noted that despite this, Ukraine cannot afford to relax, because as long as Belarus supports Russia, the threat from its territory remains real.

To this end, defensive preparations on the border with Belarus are being strengthened, in particular, the most threatening directions are mined, covering the entire border line from Volyn to Chernihiv region.

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that on August 6, the first train with Russian soldiers and equipment arrived in the country to prepare and participate in joint exercises.

The Ministry also noted that the exercises to be held in September will be the main stage of joint training of the armies of both countries this year. Now the Belarusian and Russian militaries are in the final stage of preparation for the exercises.
