Axios: Trump Was Ready To Walk Out Of Talks With Putin

The US president was irritated by the demands of the Kremlin chief.

Vladimir Putin was so adamant about his territorial claims during talks with Donald Trump in Alaska that the American president was ready to end the meeting early at one point, Axios wrote, citing a source.

Putin made maximalist demands when discussing five regions of Ukraine, including the Donetsk region, where Russia currently controls about 75 percent of the territory, the publication wrote.

️Putin wanted it all, and was so firm in his demands that Trump was ready to walk away, Axios continued. "If it's all about Donetsk and if there are no concessions, we just shouldn't extend this [meeting]," Trump told him (his words were relayed to the publication by a source). Putin then, according to the Axios interlocutor, dropped the demand.

The US is now hoping to hold a trilateral meeting involving Putin, Trump and Vladimir Zelensky, the publication notes.
