Radoslaw Sikorski: Ukraine Has Had Security Guarantees For 30 Years Now
Radoslaw Sikorski

The Polish Foreign Minister recalled the Budapest Memorandum.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on social network X that Ukraine has had security guarantees regarding the inviolability of its borders for more than 30 years. It received them with the Budapest Memorandum in exchange for giving up nuclear weapons. In addition, Russia ratified a border treaty with Ukraine.

"For the record. Since 1994, Ukraine has already had guarantees of independence and inviolability of its borders, also from Russia. Moreover, on April 22, 2004, Vladimir Putin solemnly ratified the Russian-Ukrainian border treaty. It is enough to adhere to them and the war will end," Sikorski noted.

Sikorski's message came shortly after U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Whitkoff spoke about the "serious security guarantees" that Trump and Putin had discussed for Ukraine.
