Lithuania Records Record Attacks By Illegal Immigrants

2.6 times more than last year.

From January 1 to August 17, Lithuania recorded more attempts to illegally enter its territory from Belarus than in the whole of 2024 - 1,015 versus 1,002, according to a comparative analysis of data from the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service conducted by "Pozirkam".

From January 1 to August 17 last year, the Lithuanian service registered 391 attempts, or 2.6 times less than in the same period in 2025.

The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and the EU countries has been going on since spring 2021. The authorities of the neighboring European states consider it a "hybrid attack" organized by the regimes in Minsk and Moscow.
