German Chancellor Friedrich Merz wants to advise President Vladimir Zelensky on his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
The German media outlet n-tv.de.
The publication recalls that Merz's meeting with Trump at the White House was successful. But one of Trump's meetings with Zelensky at the White House "ended in a historic scandal."
That's why Mertz "feels it is his duty" to offer Zelensky advice before his next visit to Washington, D.C., which will take place on Aug. 18. Moreover, Merz says that Zielenski allegedly asked him to do so.
Merz noted that Zielenski saw the German-American leadership meeting as being quite different from his own. In addition, Merz, along with his European partners, will "give him some good advice" ahead of his trip to the U.S.
The media notes that EU leaders want to support Zelensky "as much as possible" on his way to a likely meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
