Belarus Creates New Airborne Assault Brigade On The Border With Ukraine

One of the battalions has already been formed.

Belarus has started to form a new brigade of special operations forces of the army, it will be based in Gomel voblast, said the commander of special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus Vadim Denisenko.

He explained that this decision was taken to strengthen the southern section of the border. In the south, Belarus borders with Ukraine.

"Today, this is the most, so to speak, troublesome direction, which keeps us all in tone. That's why it was decided to create a separate airborne assault brigade there," Denisenko said in an interview with the propaganda television channel "First Information".

He also said that its formation has already begun. In particular, one of the battalions has been formed.

"By the end of this year, it will already be a combat unit," the SDF commander added.

Talking about the planned location of the new brigade, Denisenko specified that it would be Gomel region, the 37th separate paratrooper-assault guard brigade.
