Poland Decides On Sweeping Changes In Government

Details will be announced on July 15.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday discussed with his coalition leaders a plan for a government reshuffle to be announced in the coming weeks.

Polish government speaker Adam Szlapka said in a commentary on RMF FM.

Tusk's meeting with the leader of the Poland 2050 party, Sejm Speaker Szimon Golownia and the leaders of the Polish Peasant Party Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz and Wlodzimir Czarzasty lasted four hours.

The leaders of the coalition parties discussed, among other things, the reconstruction of Poland's government to run the state more efficiently, Szlapka confirmed.

Czaszasty told reporters after the meeting that "all decisions have been made" and their details would be announced on July 15. The Polish government speaker did not specify the date of the government reshuffle.

According to media reports, Tusk proposed to the coalition to reduce the number of ministers and vice-ministers by 20 percent, as well as to create two "super-ministries" - the economy and those responsible for digitalization, education and sports.

The Polish prime minister announced his intention to reshuffle the government back in May - before Refał Trzaskowski, the government's candidate in the presidential election, lost the election.
