The RF can't stand up to the US in a real war.

Threats of nuclear war voiced by former president and current deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitri Medvedev are worthless. Russia would not be able to confront not only the United States, but also the countries of Europe in case of a real war.

This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, RBC reports, citing Fox News.

Rubio openly mocked Medvedev's threats, noting that a nuclear war between the United States and Russia is an "unfathomable thing." It's certainly not something the world will ever see, he said.

And by non-nuclear means, Russia is not capable of confronting anyone, much less the United States. In 2022, the Russians were unable to deal with Ukraine, which at the time did not have the largest army in Europe.

"I don't think there's any doubt that by conventional military capabilities the Russians would not be able to stand up to the United States or, frankly, many countries in Europe, for that matter. I think it would be difficult for them," Rubio said.

The secretary of state added that the United States is not worried about a full-scale war with Russia. More worried about clashes, or the quality of miscalculations that could theoretically lead to nuclear war. But there's really no need to worry, since the Russians would never dare to do that.

"Because the Russians are not very good at conventional weapons, they would almost invariably have to rely on some other means, such as tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield. So you'd be worried about that. But we shouldn't even think about it because it's not plausible or, frankly, impossible for either side," he summarized.
