Death Rate In Belarus Almost Twice Exceeded The Birth Rate

Shocking numbers.

The National Statistics Committee of Belarus has published shocking statistics.

Based on the data in the collection "Social Status and Living Standards of the Population," in 2024 the country will record a significant excess of the number of deaths over the number of newborns.

For the year, 58,938 people were born, while 115,124 died, which is 6.5 births and 12.5 deaths per thousand population.

The gap is particularly pronounced in rural areas: the countryside accounted for 13,324 births and 37,643 deaths. In urban areas, 45,600 people were born and 77,500 died.

Life expectancy at birth in 2024 was 74.7 years: 69.3 years for men and 79.8 years for women. The highest indicator was recorded in Minsk - 77.9 years, the lowest - in Vitsebsk and Mogilev voblasts - 73.5 years.
