Vilnius intends to tighten restrictive measures.
Now in Lithuania "there are no processes related to the revision of the sanctions policy and specific measures against Belarus [towards weakening]," Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys told reporters on July 30 in the government building.
"On the contrary, we are looking at where we should expand this range [of sanctions] and what other measures of influence to apply," the official was quoted by the news portal Delfi. - It's a pity that the Seimas deputies spreading unfounded rumors don't come to sessions where we have the opportunity to talk, and now they are creating a bubble around themselves as if something is brewing here."
Budrys did not name the specific deputies who spread these rumors.
The head of Lithuanian diplomacy did not comment in detail on the proposal of the bulk cargo terminal of the Klaipeda port (Birių krovinių terminalas, BKT), which is under consideration by the government, to conclude an amicable agreement and resume the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers.
"I won't go into details because another point related to publicity is that we have an arbitration process going on right now where everything that is in the public space will be evaluated. My interest is to talk about this situation dryly, clearly and legally. I can say that different assessments are detrimental to Lithuania," Budrys said.
