But the time for misinterpretations has passed.
The Kremlin incorrectly interpreted US President Donald Trump's patience with US President Donald Trump regarding negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. But the time for misinterpretations has passed.
This was announced by U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce at a briefing on July 29.
"He (Trump - ed.) has been patient, and that's probably been misinterpreted by some people. So I think the time for misinterpretations has passed," she said.
Bruce recalled Trump's warning about imposing sanctions and secondary sanctions against Russia "because certain countries benefit from buying Russian oil."
She said the president has the authority to impose such restrictions, and that decision is up to him.
"Obviously, President Trump has proven that he should be taken seriously because he is a serious person, and we're seeing the results of that around the world," Bruce said.
