It's to get the Kremlin to negotiate.
Washington has denied Kiev missiles to the Patriot missile system, Hellfire missiles and ammunition for howitzers. This is not only a hostile act toward Ukraine, but also a big plus for Putin, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The Pentagon said that allegedly stocks of these particular munitions are limited. The decision was spearheaded by Elbridge Colby, whose patron in the White House is Vice President Dee Vance and outside the Trump administration is journalist Tucker Carlson.
Colby said the stockpile of missiles and ammunition was necessary for the U.S. to possibly confront China.
But experts say this approach to the matter demonstrates U.S. weakness in the face of global threats. Trump has always said that he wants to stop the war in Ukraine. However, such a move will only increase not only the number of deaths in Ukraine, but also prolong the war itself.
If Trump wants to force both sides of the conflict to the negotiating table with this decision, the next step is to approve a new Senate bill on sanctions against Russia and its allies.
To end the war and achieve a just peace, it is necessary to impose tough sanctions against Russia and arm Ukraine to the teeth.
