Russia Closes 20 Border Checkpoints With Ukraine

Some of them are "no longer at the border."

The Russian government has ordered to officially close 20 checkpoints operating earlier under an agreement with Ukraine from August 1. The corresponding document was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, TASS reports.

"Close from August 1, 2025 checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation, established in accordance with the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of Ukraine on checkpoints across the state border between the Russian Federation and Ukraine from February 8, 1995, according to the list in accordance with the annex," the document says.

The list includes 13 road checkpoints and 7 railway ones. Among them are the border crossings, which after the Russian annexation of the territories of Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions in 2022 "ceased to be on the border with Ukraine," TASS writes.

Reminder, in September 2022 Russia held "referendums" in the partially occupied Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions of Ukraine, and then annexed these territories. At the same time, some of the occupied territories have since been taken under the control of Ukrainian troops.
