Trump: Russia's Economy Is Small Enough
Donald Trump

And she's having a hard time right now.

US President Donald Trump has said that the Russian economy is "not that big" and right now is going through hard times. Trump said this during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland.

The US president suggested that he might be able to reach a deal with dictator Vladimir Putin to end Russia's war against Ukraine, but noted that "it's very late in the process" - and that's why he's disappointed.

"And, you know, the funny thing is that their economy is not that big, and it's going through hard times right now. But it's a relatively small economy. A strong military, but a small economy. And [it] used to be strong - it's not now. He [Putin] has been through a lot economically, it's not easy..... But it [the RF economy] is quite small, you know, compared to the sheer size of this land.... It has, I think, nine time zones or something like that. It's a huge piece of land," Trump revealed.

The politician noted that Russia could be "so rich" and "prosper like almost no other country [could]," but the Russians are holding that back because the United States cannot enter into trade agreements with Moscow.

"He [Putin] wants to enter into trade agreements with us. He talks about it all the time. And I imagine that [we could have] a lot of trade with Russia. They have a lot of valuable stuff. If we talk about rare earth elements, they have serious reserves [of these resources]..... They have virtually every form [of rare earth elements] that you can find," the US president noted.

That's why, Trump added, the Russian Federation could be very rich right now, but instead the Russians are "spending all their money on war."

"They're spending it all on war and killing people. And it doesn't make sense to me," Trump concluded.
