Drones are being actively purchased by Poland.
Taiwanese drone exports in the first half of 2025 grew by almost 750% (to $11.89 million) compared to the same period last year, according to Focus Taiwan, citing data from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The largest buyer of Taiwanese drones was Poland, which accounted for more than 54% of total exports ($6.48 million). The top five largest importers of drones from Taiwan are two more European countries: Germany took the third place ($1.46 million, which is 258 times more than a year earlier), followed by the Czech Republic with purchases worth $1.04 million.
The second place in imports of Taiwanese drones in the first half of 2025 was taken by the U.S., having purchased products worth $1.55 million, which is 209% more than last year's figure. Rounding out the top five is Hong Kong with $1 million worth of shipments, up 36.9% from the first half of 2024. According to TAITRA, the top five buyers accounted for 97% of Taiwan's total drone exports.
TAITRA noted that EU countries are working to strengthen defense and cybersecurity amid "rising geopolitical tensions" and are turning to non-Chinese suppliers. The organization said the drones supplied to Europe are used both for military purposes, such as border protection, area monitoring and drone defense, as well as agriculture, infrastructure inspection and city surveillance.
