Trump: US Will Supply Military Equipment To NATO Countries And They Will Work With Ukraine

The US president has reiterated his intention to push forward with an agreement with NATO allies to buy weapons for Kiev.

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to push forward an agreement with NATO allies on their purchase of US weapons in order to, among other things, transfer military aid to Ukraine.

The US leader said this during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland on July 27, Ukrinform reported.

Trump praised the decision of NATO countries to raise defense contributions to 5%.

"We had a meeting (at the NATO summit in The Hague, - ed.) where they announced contributions of 5% instead of 2%, and they will pay instead of avoiding paying," the US president said.

The White House chief called the latest NATO summit "one of the best" meetings the Alliance has ever had. Trump also testified that the latest agreements with NATO that call for joint efforts, particularly on military support for Ukraine, should be implemented.

"We will send military hardware and other equipment to NATO and they will do what they want to do, but I think mostly they will work with Ukraine," Trump said.
