The AFU will soon receive new air defense systems.
Ukraine's armed forces will soon receive new air defense systems paid for by the European Union as part of the US and NATO plan. In his Telegram channel told the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Alexandr Syrsky.
According to him, air defense systems for Ukraine, paid for by the EU within the framework of the US and NATO plan, are on their way. However, he did not specify when exactly they would appear in the armed forces of the AFU.
The United States and the North Atlantic Alliance's air defense plan for Ukraine Syrsky discussed with the supreme commander of NATO's Combined Armed Forces in Europe, U.S. Air Force General Alexus Hrynkiewicz. The meeting was also attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the AFU, Major General Major General Andrey Gnatov, and the commander of the NATO Security and Training Mission (NSATU), Lieutenant General Kurtis Buzzard.
Alexander Syrsky earlier said in an interview with The Washington Post that Ukraine needs new air defense systems, anti-aircraft missiles, interceptor drones and light aviation to repel Russian air attacks.
The AFU commander-in-chief believes, in particular, that the AFU needs additional Patriot surface-to-air missile systems, medium- and long-range missiles. For example, American ATACMS. Kiev also continues to insist that Germany agreed to transfer Taurus air-to-ground cruise missiles for the AFU.
The fact that Ukraine will receive new air defense systems became known in mid-July 2025. According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the AFU will receive 17 new Patriot air defense systems at the expense of NATO.
