Poland Is Preparing A Response To The West-2025 Exercise

In September, the Polish army will hold exercises across the country: 34 thousand people will take part in them. Poland's General Staff emphasizes that the Iron Defender exercise is not directed against any state, polsatnews.pl reports.
The maneuvers will take place in the format of a divisional exercise - one that involves most of the units and soldiers that make up a large tactical unit, which is a division. General Wieslaw Kukula, chief of the General Staff, announced the start of the exercise, scheduled for September earlier this year.
One of the tasks of the exercise will be to test how effectively the units of the 18th Mechanized Division have implemented modern equipment, such as M1 Abrams tanks, that have been delivered to them. The exercise is codenamed "Iron Defender" due to the participation of members of the 18th Division, also called the "Iron Division".
Who will take part in the exercise?"
The exercise will involve about 34,000 soldiers equipped with about 600 pieces of equipment - both Polish and allied, including a NATO battle group stationed in the town of Orzysz. All branches of the armed forces will be involved in the maneuvers: air force, navy, special forces, territorial defense troops.
The main forces will be represented by brigades of the 18th Division: the 1st Warsaw Tank Brigade, the 21st Podhalski Riflemen Brigade, the 19th Mechanized Brigade from Lublin, as well as a logistics regiment and a command battalion. These units will take part in the largest stage of the Iron Defender exercise, codenamed Iron Gate-25.
It will not be without command and staff exercises with the participation of American servicemen from the 1st Armored Division and V Corps of the U.S. Armed Forces, whose forward command is based in Poznan. As the General Staff emphasized, the exercises are of a defensive nature and will take place on land, in the air and on the Baltic Sea.
It should be noted that the exercises will take place against the background of the Russian-Belarusian maneuvers "Zapad-2025".
