The Head Of The General Staff Did Not Rule Out The Transfer Of Troops To The Border With Lithuania And Poland During The Exercises "West-2025"

Earlier Lukashenko announced his intention to move the exercise areas away from the borders with the EU.

The head of the General Staff Pavel Muraveiko has not ruled out moving troops to the border with Lithuania and Poland during the Zapad-2025 exercise.

This may happen in order to "work out episodes of an exclusively defensive nature," the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces said on July 23.

He recalled that it was previously decided to shift the exercise areas away from the EU borders, but, according to the military official, "this process should not be assessed as our weakness or our loyalty."

Muraveiko argues that the exercises "have exclusively defensive episodes that allow us to protect and ensure the security of the 'union state.'"
