A Political Prisoner Who Had Been Hiding From Law Enforcers For Four Years Was Convicted
Nikita Samarin

It is known that Nikita Samarin has been kept in the SHIZO for more than a month.

Political prisoner Nikita Samarin was sentenced to six years in Hrodna. Before that, he had been hiding from the previous sentence for four years.

According to the human rights center "Viasna", Nikita was found guilty under Article 364 of the Criminal Code (Violence against police officers), as well as Article 411 of the Criminal Code (Malicious disobedience to the requirements of the administration of the correctional institution). It is known that he was kept in the detention center for more than a month.

Before 2020 Samarin worked in Hrodna as an auto restorer and was a member of the club of vintage cars reconstructors "Vintage". The first time he was detained on October 5, 2020 and thrown into a minibus in heavily tightened handcuffs - the Grodno man had scars on his hands from the slash wounds. Right in the bus the guy's long hair was cut off with a knife. The GUBOPiK beat the testimony out of him by threats to take him to the woods and initiate criminal proceedings against the friend detained with him.

In December 2020, Samarin was awarded four years of "chemistry" - allegedly he "sprayed a gas canister in the face of law enforcement officers". In March 2021, the sentence was commuted to two and a half years in a penal colony. Samarin did not go to court, but left the country. Later he illegally returned to Belarus.

The detention of Hrodna citizen became known on March 27. According to the official version, the police stopped him and wanted to take him to the police station, as he had no documents. Samarin allegedly resisted and allegedly broke one of the policemen's hands.

Trial against him started on July 2. The political prisoner was taken to the trial from the punitive isolation center.
