A Criminal Case Has Been Opened Against Yury Dudy In Russia

The journalist is abroad.

A criminal case has been opened against Russian journalist Yuri Dudy under the article on failure to fulfill the duties of a "foreign agent," RIA Novosti reports, citing investigative authorities.

The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has earlier forwarded the inspection materials to the Investigative Committee, pointing out that Dud has twice been held administratively liable for the absence of the "foreign agent" label, but continued to publish posts without indicating this status in messenger.

According to the law, a repeated violation within a year can lead to criminal liability - under the article on evasion of "foreign agent" duties, which provides for up to two years in prison. Dud is abroad.

The journalist was included in the register of "foreign agents" in April 2022. The grounds are citing other "foreign agents", as well as foreign funding through advertising on YouTube.
