SBU General: Damaged Support Can Significantly Destroy The Crimean Bridge
Viktor Yagun

After yesterday's attack, Russia is trying to hide any information.

During the recent strike on the Crimean bridge, the Security Service of Ukraine did everything it could. This was told by SBU reserve major general Viktor Yagun in a commentary for "Ukrainian Radio".

"When a task is set and there is creativity - and creativity was demonstrated during the attack on Russian airfields on June 1 - then the task was prepared and executed. They talk about 1,100 kilograms of explosives, but it should be understood that this is the equivalent of explosives. It is clear that it had to be delivered under water to the object. As a rule, after such attacks, Russia tries to hide any information and minimize image losses that may result from the operation," he said.

Yagun noted that as reported in the administration of the Krasnodar region, an instruction was made not to allow vehicles on the bridge. According to him, the bridge is now blocked and the structure around it is closed.

"I hope that ours knew where to strike and what kind of blow should be painful. After all, Ukrainian security services received full documentation of the Crimean bridge about two years ago, so they understood its pain points. The problem of this bridge is that the supports do not reach the soil, but are located on special ropes, i.e. there are floating soils. Therefore, damage to this support can lead - if not now, then in the fall or spring during active storms - to significant damage," explained Major General of the SBU reserve.

The military added that the enemy has the task to either close the bridge at all or urgently repair it in order to have time before the fall, so it is still impossible to fully use the bridge.

"The Russians tried to build an alternative road - a railroad through Melitopol, but ours managed to blow up part of the roadbed there and let military transport fall off. The logistic chain is damaged," Yagun emphasized.

The SBU reserve major general was also asked whether the military could have hit the bridge with Ukrainian drones "Toloka" or "Marichka," to which he replied:

"It is likely that yes. I do not rule out Western analogs either. Our partners have been working on this subject and this is one of the alternatives. The maritime drones we used on the Russian fleet are to some extent a replacement for surface combat ships, and the Marichka you mentioned is possibly a replacement for the submarine fleet."

Yagun noted that the partners gave Ukraine some of their drones, so the AFU military could use them as well.

"I think this will remain a mystery for now - until we get official information about what actually happened and how. All this once again speaks about the creativity of Ukrainian special services on how to fight the enemy," he assured.
