A Bus With An Unusual Number Is Launched In Minsk

Transportation operator Stolichny Transport and Communications reports that a new bus route is being launched in Minsk. And it has an atypical number, noted the portal Blizko.by.

"In order to provide transportation services to enterprises located near Akademika Krasina str. Akademika Krasina, 201, from July 1, 2025 daily operation of the city bus route № 260 "Autostation Avtozavodskaya - Akademika Krasina" is organized," the company said.

The number of the new route attracts attention: 260.

Till now, Minsk city buses have not had such large numbers, notes the portal. If you open the schedule of all city buses, there the last number of regular city bus routes is No. 199C. And then there are routes from the array of 900 numbers - these are temporary routes.

In the summer of 2020, Minsk changed the range of numbers of city buses at the expense of suburban buses. Until then, the numbers from 1 to 199 were reserved for city buses, while the 200th were given to suburban routes. But by that time, all the city routes no longer fit into their range (there were about 210 different routes in total), so they had to use letters.

Therefore, in July 2020, Minsk City Executive Committee and Minsk Regional Executive Committee amended the joint decision, which had been in force since 2009. And now the range of numbers from 200th to 299th is released for urban routes of public transport. The main suburban routes will start at 3** and 4**, seasonal - at 8** (previously they stood in a common row), temporary - at 9** (these are routes, which are organized for certain events for several days or for periods of road construction work). And 2** will now be assigned to city routes.

That's how, five years after that decision, a city route with a number in the "two hundredth" array appears in Minsk, and not No. 201, but for some reason immediately No. 260.
