Imported Machine Tools For Rocket Production Were Supplied To The Russian Plant Via Belarus

Investigation.

According to the investigation of the Ukrainian publication The Kyiv Independent, Belarusian companies were involved in the supply of imported equipment for the Russian plant where missiles are produced.

The journalists found out that three Belarusian companies - Gomel Plant of Machine Tools and Assemblies, Belarusian Machine Tools and Gefest - shipped foreign machine tools to Russia to help increase the production of Iskander missiles and other types of ballistic weapons.

The equipment came through private Russian intermediaries, while the machines themselves were manufactured in China, Taiwan and Belarus - countries that did not support sanctions against Russia. In total, according to journalists, $11 million worth of machine tools were imported.

The equipment in question was important - milling, turning and grinding machines used for precision machining of metal, a key material for rocket production. This allowed the Votkinsk plant, which is located in Russia's Udmurtia, to modernize production, hire new employees (about 2,500) and build two additional workshops.

The Votkinsk plant produces not only the Iskanders, which Russia fires at Ukraine, but also the Yars and Bulava intercontinental missiles, which can carry nuclear warheads and reach the United States. According to information, the plant is also working on the Oreshnik missile, which could threaten the entire territory of Europe.
