Belarus Is Preparing A New "surprise" For Drivers

It has become known who it will affect.

The Interior Ministry of Belarus is "concerned" about the growing number of accidents involving children and proposes to tighten the rules of their transportation, BelTA reports.

First Deputy Interior Minister Yuri Nazarenko said that in recent years the number of accidents involving child passengers has increased markedly: in 2024, 204 such cases and 14 victims were registered, while in 2019 - 144 accidents and seven dead teenagers.

The problem, according to Nazarenko, in particular, is that drivers and passengers often ignore seat belts and child seats. In 2025 alone, more than 150 thousand violations related to the non-use of belts and more than 42 thousand violations related to the improper transportation of children were recorded. Many violators are caught repeatedly, which shows the ineffectiveness of existing measures such as warnings.

Because of the complexity of control and the impossibility of automatic recording of such violations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to change administrative legislation: to exclude these offenses from the list, which can be limited to a warning.
