Tehran's nuclear program has been delayed by a few months at most.
The United States strikes on Iran have not completely destroyed key components of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
According to CNN.
A preliminary assessment by US intelligence, US military strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites last weekend did not destroy key components of the nuclear program. According to three knowledgeable sources, it only set the program back several months.
The assessment was made by the Pentagon's intelligence agency. It was based on damage analysis.
According to the publication, the initial findings contradict US President Donald Trump's claims that the strikes "completely and utterly destroyed" Iran's uranium enrichment nuclear facilities. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a similar statement last Sunday.
Also, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea also noted at a Security Council meeting that U.S. strikes on Iran had undermined the Islamic Republic's ability to develop nuclear weapons.
"On June 21, the U.S. pinpoint operation effectively accomplished our objective: to undermine Iran's ability to produce nuclear weapons," she said.
In the meantime, sources said Iran still has a stockpile of enriched uranium and that centrifuges remained largely "intact" as a result of the strikes.
"It is estimated that the US has set them back a few months at most," the source said.
A White House spokeswoman has already commented on the report, saying the estimate is "completely wrong."
"This supposed estimate is completely wrong and was labeled 'top secret' but was leaked to CNN anyway by an anonymous loser in the intelligence community. Leaking this supposed assessment is a clear attempt to discredit President Trump and the brave pilots," said White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt.
