The large-scale shutdown is in its second day.
There is a large-scale internet outage in Iran. Access to the network disappeared since yesterday and is still missing.
This is reported by NetBlocks, which monitors Internet freedom in the world.
"According to the data, Iran has been without Internet access for more than 12 hours. As authorities have imposed a nationwide Internet shutdown, citing likely 'misuse' of the network by Israel for military purposes," the resource reported.
It is worth adding that the shutdown makes it seriously difficult for Iranians to access information at a time of rising tensions in the region. The restrictions affect both mobile internet and wired networks.
According to AP, Iranian state television has urged citizens to remove messenger WhatsApp from their phones, accusing it of transmitting data to Israel.
Meta, however, has denied the allegations. Other reports indicate that Telegram, another messenger popular in Iran, has also been blocked, AP reported.
Reminder, a large-scale internet shutdown in most regions of Iran began at 5:30 p.m. local time on June 18. It is known that traffic was reduced to about 3% of standard consumption.
Also on Wednesday, June 18, the broadcast of Iranian state television was interrupted - instead of the usual program showed footage of street protests with calls to continue the actions.
According to Israeli journalist Amih Shtein, the satellite signal of the Iranian broadcaster was intercepted and footage from the protests held on the streets of the country was aired.
