CNN: U.S. Moves Third Aircraft Carrier Closer To Israel

Next week the US aircraft carrier strike group headed by the USS Gerald R. Ford plans to move to the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea closer to Israel.

This is reported by CNN with reference to a US official and two other informed persons.

It is noted that the deployment of the USS Ford in the area of the U.S. European Command planned since the end of last year takes on special significance against the backdrop of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

According to CNN, in parallel, another U.S. aircraft carrier is heading to the Middle East. It will either join the USS Carl Vinson or replace it.

Aircraft carriers carry dozens of fighter jets for strike operations, can intercept missiles and drones, and are accompanied by combat ships to defend against air, surface and undersea threats, the publication said.
