The NHL's premier trophy has cracked the edge of the cup bowl.
Florida Panthers hockey players damaged the Stanley Cup while celebrating their victory in the final series of the NHL playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers.
The players damaged the trophy before it even left the ice. The photo shows a crack along the edge of the cup's bowl.
Players regularly inflict various damages to the Stanley Cup. For example, in 2022, Colorado forward Nicholas Ob-Kubel slipped and damaged the base before the Evellanche were about to take a team photo on the ice. It was the first time the trophy was damaged on the ice immediately after being awarded, Gino Hard noted.
"Florida won the Stanley Cup for the second straight year, defeating the Edmonton Oilers in six games in the final series.
