German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has expressed support for Israeli actions in Iran. The chancellor expressed hope that it would lead to the fall of the ayatollahs' regime, Deutsche Welle reported.

"This is the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us," Chancellor Merz said Tuesday on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada. - All I can say is: great respect for the fact that the Israeli army and the Israeli leadership had the courage to do this."

Merz said Israel's operation could lead to regime change in Iran. After all, strikes in recent days have already significantly weakened the ayatollahs' power.

"We are also victims of this regime. This regime of the mullahs has brought death and destruction to the world," the chancellor added.

Earlier today, G7 leaders backed Israel's right of self-defense against Iran.
