Trump Has Scheduled A Meeting In The Situation Room

To discuss Israel's conflict with Iran.

US President Donald Trump will meet with the National Security Council team in the White House Situation Room about the conflict between Israel and Iran, Axios reported, citing sources.

The American president had earlier said he would return to the US early from the G7 summit in Canada.

"I have to come back. You're probably seeing what I'm seeing, and I have to come back as soon as possible," Trump said the day before.

Then Fox News reporter Lawrence Jones revealed that the president had ordered the convening of the National Security Council. CNN wrote that the president instructed his team to meet with the Iranian side as soon as possible to determine whether Tehran was serious about resolving the conflict with Israel diplomatically.

Later, Trump said he wanted to achieve not just a cessation of hostilities between Iran and Israel, but a complete renunciation of Tehran's nuclear weapons. He allowed that he might send Vice President J.D. Vance or special envoy Steve Whitkoff to meet with Iranian representatives.

"Iran should have signed the 'deal' I said to sign. What a shame and what a waste of human life. Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. I say it over and over again," Trump later wrote on his Truth Social network.
