Israeli Defense Minister: Ayatollah Khamenei May Meet Hussein's Fate

Israel Katz warned Iran's supreme leader.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could suffer a fate similar to that of executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

It was reported by CNN.

"I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing war crimes and firing rockets at Israeli citizens...He should remember what was the fate of a dictator in Iran's neighboring country who chose this path against the state of Israel," he said during a meeting of Israel's top military leadership in Tel Aviv.

Saddam Hussein, who was president of Iraq from 1979 until his ouster in 2003, invaded Iran in 1980 and launched a rocket campaign against Israel in 1991. Then, eight years later, the war reached a stalemate. Iraq's campaign against Israel lasted just over a month during the First Gulf War, and Israel - under U.S. pressure - did not retaliate.
