Putin Sends Shoigu To North Korea For The Second Time In A Month

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu arrived in North Korea on June 17 on special instructions from President Vladimir Putin. He is to hold talks with the DPRK leadership, including the country's leader Kim Jong Un "as part of the implementation of the agreements reached during the last visit on June 4," the press service of the Security Council apparatus said, Interfax reports. It is specified that they are carried out in accordance with the agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea, signed on June 19, 2024.

Shoigu's visit to North Korea is the second one in the last month. The last one took place on June 4. Then it was reported that the Secretary of the Security Council met with Kim to discuss the current situation on the Ukrainian front, the implementation of certain clauses of the aforementioned treaty, as well as the "preservation of historical memory" of Korean fighters who fought in the Kursk region.
