Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke about the risky operation of U.S. forces.

In Donald Trump's first presidential cadence, the United States conducted a dangerous military operation in Syria, during which it eliminated three hundred Russian mercenaries in one strike.

The former US foreign policy chief Mike Pompeo said this during a speech at the Black Sea Security Forum, Ukrainian MP Alexei Honcharenko reports.

The former secretary of state said the Russians were trying to cross a strategic river under the cover of night when the U.S. army struck at them.

The former official said it was a dangerous but principled operation that testified to Washington's willingness to act decisively when it comes to threatening national interests.

- It was very risky. And it happened under the first Trump administration," the speaker said.

Pompeo expressed doubts that any other president in Trump's shoes would have dared to carry out such a complex operation.

The diplomat emphasized that it is the show of force that is the factor that can stop Russia, and called for acting accordingly in the context of Western allies' support for Ukraine.
