Washington no longer believes Putin's words.

U.S. President Donald Trump was disappointed by Russia's massive shelling of Ukraine during talks with Russia.

This was reported by U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce at a briefing.

She emphasized that the U.S. will evaluate Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "not by what he says, but by what he does."

She said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during a meeting with the aggressor country's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, echoed President Trump's calls for constructive, good-faith dialog with Ukraine as the only way to end the war.

"The president is judging Putin based on the nature of the fact that he was clearly extremely frustrated by the killing of civilians during cease-fire negotiations," the briefing said.
