In the Chinese province of Shandong there was a large-scale explosion at the chemical plant Shandong Youdao Chemical. About it reports Reuters on Tuesday, May 27.
The explosion occurred in a workshop of the enterprise located in the city of Weifang. Rescue workers are working at the site. There is no information about casualties or fatalities yet.

Videos have emerged on social media showing the sounds of the explosion, as well as thick gray smoke over the factory and broken glass in neighboring houses.
Local residents report strong vibrations, with some people leaving buildings or taking shelter.
The Himile Group, which owns the factory, has not yet commented on the situation. Shares of affiliate Himile Mechanical fell nearly 4 percent.
Shandong Youdao Chemical was founded in 2019. The plant is engaged in the production of pesticides, pharmaceuticals and intermediate chemicals. The plant employs 300 people.
