The Americans beat Switzerland in the final.

The main time ended 0-0, and the only puck was scored in overtime. Buffalo's Tage Thompson scored.

The United States became world champions for the third time. Before that, they were champions in 1960, and since the introduction of the playoffs (1991), they have never even reached the final.

It was also the fifth final for Switzerland since 2013, but that team has lost each time.

The next World Cup will be held a year from now in Switzerland.
