A member of the State Duma Committee on Defense Viktor Sobolev said that "the full achievement of the goals of the SWO is the creation of a single union state: Russia - Ukraine - Belarus." He called it "the restoration of the Russian world within its natural borders."
The former deputy of the Supreme Soviet of Belarus, journalist Sergei Naumchik criticized the silence of the country's Foreign Ministry when Russian politicians declare their desire to annex Belarus.
"The silence of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on the words of a Russian State Duma deputy about the unification of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus into one state as a war goal is revealing. Foreign policy departments are not always obliged to respond to the statements of foreign politicians (say, leaders of marginal parties), who threaten to eliminate sovereignty, but a member of parliament is a statesman, a member of the supreme legislative body," he said.
According to him, such silence indicates the state, into which Alexander Lukashenko has plunged Belarus "for decades of his mediocre rule: complete dependence on Moscow." As a result, he said, Belarusian officials are simply afraid to express any disagreement with the Russians.
"Belarus has never known a more shameful period in its history," said Sergei Naumchik.
He reminded that Lukashenko had been "openly and brazenly" humiliating the sovereignty, the Belarusian language and national values since the beginning of his political career, and now "all kinds of Moscow scum wipe their feet on Belarusian independence.
