Karbalevich: Xi Jinping Defiantly Ignores Lukashenko

China has little interest in supporting economic projects in Belarus.

Russia remains dominant in foreign policy, and after the loss of the western vector, Belarus has become even more dependent on its eastern neighbor, writes "Deutsche Welle".

"Lukashenko meets with Putin every two months and receives Russian governors quite often," says political analyst Valery Karbalevich.

The second country after Russia, according to the expert, is China, which is evident both in the rhetoric and in the attention paid at the state level to everything Chinese.

"The secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University came to Belarus, and Lukashenko received him with a whole delegation," analyzes Valeri Karbalevich. - True, Lukashenko's hopes for this country are not realized, today China has little interest in supporting economic projects in Belarus: earlier the point of economic cooperation was that Belarus could be a gateway to Europe for China, but good relations with the European Union are important for this.

Beginning of the year, Lukashenko twice announced a visit to China, but for some reason it did not take place. Lukashenko and Si Jinping were in Moscow to celebrate Victory Day, but there was no talk about their meeting, which may speak about Xi's demonstrative ignoring," the political analyst said.
