Political Analyst: It Is Quite Possible That Lukashenko Will Be Thrown Out Of The Palace

A dictator can become a "lamb to the slaughter".

After his conversation with Putin, US President Donald Trump said he would not impose sanctions against Russia for now, and announced a possible withdrawal from the talks. What are the main takeaways from this conversation? The website Charter97.org talked to Evgeny Magda, head of the Ukrainian Institute of World Politics about it:

- The first conclusion: Trump does not have a clear plan for settling the Russia-Ukraine war that he could implement. The second: Putin understands this perfectly well and is using mechanisms to reflexively control Trump. Yes, specifically managing Trump, because he understands how his psychology works. Third: I believe Putin is using the talk of negotiations in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war to get to a direct summit with Trump where the fate of the world can be discussed.

Because in the current situation, while the Russian-Ukrainian war is going on and Trump is fussing about it, Putin is just the leader of a post-Soviet state. And if he and Trump meet one-on-one, he will immediately feel like a world leader.

But there is one question: where to put comrade Si Jinping? About Lukashenko I'm not talking at all.

- Zelensky after the conversation between Trump and Putin said that Ukraine will not withdraw troops from its territories. Why did he make such a statement? Was a possible troop withdrawal discussed during their conversation?"

- Of course, Russia insists that the regions that they, in violation of international law, included in their Constitution are their territories. That's why Russian journalists in Istanbul asked our defense minister when Ukrainian troops will withdraw from occupied Russian territories. You understand, this is like me, for example, taking away the phone of any of my readers and then saying that it belonged to me since my birth.

This logic of denying any common sense is ever-present in Russia. Zelensky is well aware that a politician who makes public legal concessions to Russia risks not only his political career, but also his life.

- How will Europe act? We have heard a lot about ultimatums from the Europeans. When will they start acting?"

- I don't see Europe going beyond its "deep concern" yet. Although it may become "very deep."

- What should Lukashenko expect from this negotiation process? What threats may loom over his regime?

- Lukashenko should prepare for the fact that the West-2025 exercises are coming soon, and think how not to become a "ram to the slaughter" during these exercises. Because the scenario in which he will be thrown out of the Palace of the Republic and a more convenient and accommodating politician will be put in his place is quite realistic.
