The Russian dictator outlined his version of the conversation with the US president.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has said that his conversation with Donald Trump on May 19 was "frank" and "very useful."
His words were reported by Russian propaganda media.
Putin said he spoke with the US president for more than two hours and the conversation was "substantial, frank and very useful."
During the conversation, the Kremlin host said he heard Trump's position on "ending hostilities" in Ukraine.
At the same time, Putin again rejected the idea of an unconditional ceasefire, saying that "it is necessary to work out the most effective ways to move toward peace" and that Russia was ready to work on some kind of "memorandum" with Ukraine regarding a ceasefire as well.
At the same time, the Kremlin host noted the "resumption" of direct contacts between Ukraine and Russia, commenting, "We are, on the whole, on the right track."
The details of the conversation, according to Putin, will be announced later.
The White House has also not yet reported its version of the conversation between the US and Russian leaders.
